Training Designer
...............................................................................................

So you've implemented your grand solution that will solve all the client's ills. It's been tested and against all expectations, it works. Finished? No. Let's not forget that when the consultants leave, there's a lot of employees who have to use that solution on a day-to-day basis to keep the business running. To get them up to speed, they need to be trained.

The role of the new joiner in the training process varies massively from project to project. You may be involved in designing and checking the training materials, supporting the trainers logistically or even giving the training yourself. Training can be a relatively short role if the client is small, but if it is a large roll-out, prepare to start repeating the training script in your sleep.

Pros

  • Potentially varied work
  • Opportunity to work on presentation skills
  • Client interaction

Cons

  • Difficult to measure success
  • Repetitive
  • Lots of humdrum drafting and checking
